After the “Sustainable Development Week” from 1-7 April 2009 makes it clear that environment- and climate-friendly projects have top priority in France. The photovoltaics market, which has recorded year-on-year growth rates in excess of 100 per cent in recent times, is benefiting particularly from this. As the European division of the solar pioneer, Sharp Energy Solution Europe intends systematically expanding its photovoltaic operations in the booming European market.
Sharp brings start of new LCD production forward – world’s first tenth-generation factory launches manufacture of large-format LCD TVs and e-Signage displays in October 2009
Demand for high-quality LCD panels remains high. In the emerging markets, such as China, in particular, but also in Europe, one of the largest overseas markets for Sharp, the call for LCD TVs is rising despite the credit crunch. In addition, the market for e-signage displays is booming. To meet this development, the company is bringing forward the start of production in the first tenth-generation LCD panel factory in Sakai, Japan by five months to October 2009.

Sharp Corporation will bring its LCD panel plant at the “Manufacturing Complex for the 22st Century” into operation in October 2009. The plant is currently under construction in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan.
